Black Maria Gallery, in collaboration with aphrodisio publishing, announces Here We Grow, a show of new original works by The London Police, Flying Fortress, Galo and Pez. The show runs from May 17th through May 28th, 2008 and the Flying Fortress prints will also be released at the opening. The artists will collaborate on a live painting at the gallery, which will then be auctioned off on eBay at a date to be announced. 10% of the proceeds will go to Monkey Sanctuary Trust - a unique environmental charity dedicated to promoting the welfare, conservation and survival of primates (www.monkeysanctuary.org).

San Francisco Examiner reviews aphrodisio mix v.02 Rafael Lego Rodriguez Chicago deep-house imprint aphrodisio tapped Chi-town DJ-on-the-rise Rafael Lego Rodriguez (Poontin Muzik) to mix the second installment in their already popular mix-CD series. Rodriguez combines the sweaty salsa and merengue rhythms of his Hispanic upbringing with jazzy horns and chunky beats that pay homage to dance music's disco and funk past to create a rich, summertime house mix.

DJ Magazine ( UK ) "Stuff Like That" represents a significant change of style for the typically more tech and prog flavoured US label, and it's a change that'll be well received by jazzy house heads. Roomsa's live sound translates nicely to vinyl, and led by Lady Sarah's controlled vocals, a funky bassline and meandering sax, 'Stuff Like That' slots nicely in the section occupied by the likes of Cooly's Hot Box, Reel People and the Chilli Funk folks. Johnny Fiasco gets things grooving a little harder on his vocal mix, replacing the live feel with something more electronic keys based, and he turns in a spacey deep house dub too.

Well known in the house world for both his remixes and numerous original productions on a variety of labels, Johnny Fiasco proves himself to be master of the mix cd as well. Throughout the 15 track mix, Fiasco guides you through the many styles and inflections of deep house, providing a satisfying and exhilarating experience. His set opens with the infectiously funky "House of Mouths" from Mike Dixon, which leads into Pty Ltd's "Who's Been Watching You?" given a bumping, acid-y remix from Fiasco's buddy Derrick Carter. As the mix progresses, he leads you into more tribal territory with Dano Chus & Ceballos' "Deep Architecture". A double dose of Thomas Crown tracks "Burnin'" and "Party People" brings in a light disco flavor, complemented by the precision funk of Lance de Sardi & Waric Cameron's "Get Into Me." Vernell de Long's "People Get Up" takes things into the deeper, soulful realms of house, backed up by Fiasco's own mix of E-Tones' "Ooh La La". It kicks off on a real summery vibe with cool Latin grooves before sweeping seamlessly into sexy disco groovers as we progress. But it's when we hit the crux of the mix around track nine that things start to pick up, lifting in tempo and energy, until peaking right on the final track from Mambana (Soulfuric Traxx). A nicely crafted mix with a suitably varied mix of tracks to keep interest, and a definite for fans of the Latin-tinged sound of the West Coast. "Night Swallowing Day" by Jevne (aphrodisio) remixed by Tony Thomas (Soma) in stores today; this gem's a tribal jam with irresistible, darkly narcotic grooves. Both versions hit the dance floor hard with a thick, throbbing bass line and heavy low end. Tribal house and progressive music lovers will dig it.

The original's just fine, but Johnny Fiasco's remix is the one, being just a touch more floor-friendly." * * * * (four out of five stars)
