PILIAVIN & ZIMBARDO
P&Z were first discovered by the legendary Terry Farley (Junior Boys Own) and appeared on his label as 'Deadset' in 2000, remixing the anthemic 'Children of House' featuring Marcel. Erick Morillo was the next to take P&Z under his wing, releasing 2 critically acclaimed EPs that set in motion a wave of succes that continues today..
With the exposure received from their two Sondos releases, and their EPs with UK superlabel NRK (who hailed them as ‘the new Peace Division), P&Z launched their own imprint Distraekt Records which now on its 18th release has played host to some of the finest talent the production and DJ world has to offer, including Smokin Jo, Robbie Rivera, Flash Brothers, Steve Angello, D.Ramirez, Chus & Ceballos, Terry Farley, Ann Saunderson (Inner City) and the list goes on. Their productions have also featured on such well respected compilation albums as Global Underground and Subliminal Sessions, and their impressive remix collection now takes in such names as Jocelyn Brown, Loleatta Holloway, Robbie Rivera, Chus & Ceballos, and Afrika Bambaata, on many of the dance scenes key labels - Star69, Tommy Boy, Juicy Music, Honchos, Release Records, Beatfreak Recordings, Junior Boys Own, Stereo Productions and more.
P&Zs DJ career obviously runs hand in hand with their productions, and have travelled the world delivering their sets to clubbers as far and wide and diverse as Taiwan to Russia, China to Lithuania and Kazakhstan to Mexico.
Their diverse energetic sets never fail to disappoint, regardless of location. From the biggest clubs like Ministry of Sound to the smallest venues the same energy is guaranteed in every P&Z set!
P&Z are also resident reviewers for one of the top UK Dance publications, IDJ Magazine. This link with IDJ has also seen them tour with the mag, and appear in various tour related articles in the pages of IDJ.
After the success of the IDJ Tour 2004 which culminated at a monstrous gig at the newly opened Ministry of Sound in Taipei, Taiwan, 2006 sees P&Z team up once again with IDJ as they hit Asia for the IDJ Magazine Asia Tour 2006, expanding this time to take in China, Thailand, Korea, India, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
P&Z now move into 2006 launching their own solo label projects to compliment the success of their combined label success with Distraekt. Zimbardos Benchmarc Records launched in Feb 2006 to rave reviews, and veers out on a different musical direction to the Distraekt camp, encompassing a more electronic, even acidic sound. Piliavin brings Crazy 88 Productions to the fore, which focuses on his own solo productions under his pseudonym, Paolo Jackson.
